Your teacher
Margie Macalpine
With a lifelong love of textiles, Margie learned to knit and sew from her mother, a talented tailor and clever in all thread endeavour. She went on to study Fashion and Design, further developing her skills and love of creating by hand.
Over the years, Margie has taught knitting, smocking and stitching both from her home studio and throughout the local community. More recently, she led a smocking retreat in Italy, sharing her knowledge and enthusiasm with fellow makers.
Her home studio is filled with books, threads, fabrics, lace, trims and, of course, plenty of works in progress. Above all, Margie loves sharing her passion with others and seeing her students build the skills and confidence to create beautiful garments and treasured handmade pieces.
