Everything in one bag

A kit takes the deciding out of a project: the pattern, the right yarn in the right amount, and the needles to knit it. Ours are put together in the shop from yarns we stock, so if you run short or want to make it again in another colour, the same yarn is on the shelf.

The blanket kits

The blanket kits are the heart of the range: a series of baby and cot blankets, each with a name from Alex to Gabriel, knitted in Bambini 8 ply extra fine merino or Fiori Hand Dyed DK. Each has a simple stitch pattern with enough texture to be interesting, and every kit includes the yarn, the pattern and a 4mm circular needle. The Beginner Knitting Kit is the one that goes with our beginner class, and the Birch cross stitch kits are the small, portable introduction to stitchcraft.

Kits as gifts

A kit is one of the better gifts for a maker, because it is a project rather than a ball of yarn they have to find a use for. Add a gift card if you would rather they chose the colour, or ask us to put a kit together from a pattern they have mentioned.

Do your kits include needles?

The blanket kits include a 4mm 80cm circular needle, and the Beginner Knitting Kit includes what the class uses. Cross stitch kits include the needle, fabric and threads.

Are the blanket kits suitable for beginners?

Yes. They are knitted in 8 ply on 4mm needles in simple repeating stitch patterns, with the border worked as you go so there is no sewing up.

How long does a blanket kit take?

A few evenings a week for two to four weeks for a cot blanket, depending on the stitch pattern and how fast you knit.

Can I choose the colours in a kit?

Yes. Bambini comes in a range of shades and Fiori in hand dyed colourways; tell us the colour and we will make the kit up. Come into the shop to see them under real light, or ask us to describe them.

Are the kits knitting or crochet?

Knitting, plus cross stitch. For crochet, choose a pattern and we will bundle it with yarn and a hook.

Can you make a kit from a pattern I already have?

Yes. Bring the pattern in or email it and we will put together the yarn and needles it calls for.

What size are the blanket kits?

Cot size, around 95cm by 105cm for most of the series. Darcy is the smaller pram and car seat blanket.

Do you post kits?

Yes, kits ship like anything else on the site, and orders over $200 ship free within Australia.
